Returning to Selos 2, the team (minus Gary 23, who returned to the asteroid base to play dead) encounter Ochi, who has just returned from his visit home to Itako to bury his mother. Before leaving the arrival room the rebel couple, Sher Va and Bon Bunchi appear, also dressed in the common garb of Jelq.

Jax meets secretly with Ochi to discuss the events of the last few days. There, Ochi announces he discovered a microscopic, passive chip had been embedded subcutaneously, at the base of his skull while on Itako. Wondering if this was a unique event, Jax has himself scanned and discovers the same. He has it removed. 

​

Immediately, the team gather and decide to abandon Selos 2. Just outside the hanger, however, they are intercepted by a squad of 4 Selosian Warriors. A firefight ensues and the team triumph. In the hanger, they discover their ship is being dismantled. Stealing a Selosian Corvette called Liberty Herald, the team escape during the confusion of battle as the Selosians engage the entire Church blockade.

After regrouping on Trumpler 4, the team head for Red Colony to investigate the origins of the chips, which every team member had (save for Gary 23, who had his body replaced). Sneaking into Hell, the team encounter a guard and 2 prisoners. They kill the guard and the more heinous of the 2 prisoners, and discover no chips. They head back for the ship but encounter a large group of guards bearing down on them. They escape into a med bay just as the prison AI calls for Ochi over the radio. He doesn't reply.

A couple dozen guards engage them in the med bay, pouring in through the two doors, one at a time, allowing the team to slaughter them wholesale. Eventually the AI calls his guards off. Ochi finally answers his former "Master," who calls for a "face to face" meeting. Ochi refuses and the team continue their escape, eventually melting away the now closed hanger blast door.

As they fly away, the AI contacts them again, this time, however, as a sliver in the ship's computer. The team question it and it is fairly forthcoming. The chips were indeed implanted on them during their time in Hell. They've been watched the entire time and Armo Ang is working with the AI.

 

"I can tell you all about Rubieta, Jax" the AI says. And when asked if the plan is to expand itself, it replies with a chuckle "I don't need to expand, I'm everywhere."
