The handlers escort the team to a conference room, empty save for the Supreme Leader of the Selosian warriors, Armo Ang. He gives them a quick once over and sends them off to have a non-lethal training exercise against, what would turn out to be a severely outmatched team of four Selosian trainees.

After quickly dispatching their opponents, the team are offered a mission to prove their mettle. Iris balks at the parameters of the mission; to test a reverse engineered alien meta-dimensional portal drug, which, according to the scientist describing it, would allow them to use their minds as a drill drive. 

​

The three remaining team members, Mr. Smith, Dr. Preem and Clarissa LeClerc take the drug, follow the scientist's instructions and drill to a secure location on Saeunn in the Polos system. After the Selosian scientist examines a data-pad at the location, they take the second pill and return to the lab on Selos 2. 

​

Meanwhile, Iris meets with Armo Ang in his private suite and is asked to train his youngest daughter in the ways of a psion. She agrees and for three weeks teaches the 16 year old how to tame her increasingly rampant abilities. Having some success, Iris is asked to further train a class of 6 children ranging in ages from 12 to 18. She does and another 13 weeks pass with no word from her team. She assumes the worst.

On September 23rd, the team return from Saeunn, having traveled a tremendous distance as well as 4 months into the future, though for them, mere seconds. The Selosian scientist believes he has the answer, and after describing the solution to the team (Clarissa thinks she has a tenuous grasp on it), Mr. Smith walks out without a word but Preem and Clarissa agree to try again. This second time, it works as the Selosians had hoped it would. In less than 90 seconds the three travel to Saeunn and back, using just the Drill drug and their minds.
