Samanis is a planet that has never been colonized. The Sector government maintains an outpost at the equator, which remains frozen year round. The rest of the planet is much worse, with high temperatures rarely rising above 0°F. The planet, though extreme in its cold, holds abundant life, including mega fauna across air, land and sea.

The secular military services regularly use the treacherous landscapes of Samanis as an elite unit survival training ground. There is also a long standing Naval tradition of fielding small teams from various fleets to compete for prestige. These competitions are unofficial and occur on an irregular basis.
